Mr. Jian Mao joined JunHe in 2012. His practice focuses on intellectual property due diligence, patent prosecution, patent analysis, and patent invalidity and infringement proceedings.
Mr. Mao is experienced in intellectual property due diligence. He has represented many investment firms in conducting due diligence on the patent portfolios of target companies and the infringement risks of their products, particularly for companies in the medical device, electronic and software industries. Mr. Mao has also issued legal opinions as an intellectual property expert in several IPO projects.
Mr. Mao has a background in electronic engineering, and is familiar with the industries of integrated circuits, smart devices, software, the internet and telecommunications. He has evaluated many Standard Essential Patents related to wireless communication and video codec technologies, and handled numerous patent infringement and valid analysis cases relating to electronic devices, integrated circuits, signal processing, robotic devices, measurement devices and automobile technologies. Mr. Mao has also represented clients in patent invalidation and litigation cases in these same areas.
Mr. Mao has drafted hundreds of Chinese, U.S. and PCT patent applications, and is able to consider the legal and practical requirements of both Chinese and U.S. patent laws when drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
Mr. Mao graduated from Nanjing University in 2004 where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in microelectronics. In 2008, he graduated from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, obtaining his Master of Science in electronic engineering.
Mr. Mao is a member of the All-China Bar Association and the All-China Patent Agent Association.
