Hadi Badri, CEO of DEDC, meets JunHe partners Nelson Zhou and Cathy Cai, and corporate executives

2024.09.18

On August 19, 2024, His Excellency Hadi Badri, CEO of Dubai Economic Development Corporation, a subsidiary of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, met with Mr. Zhou Hui, and Ms. Cai Jing, partners of JunHe LLP, and the representatives of the Chinese enterprises to engage in an insightful discussion around the opportunities and process for Chinese companies looking to expand to Dubai and the region.

DEDC is the economic development arm of DET, responsible for enhancing Dubai’s economic competitiveness; supporting diversification and sustainability of the emirate’s economy; in addition to attracting foreign investment and global talent in vital sectors.

Dubai's geographical location, combined with the city’s world class infrastructure and robust regulatory framework make it an ideal gateway for companies looking to scale globally. The total number of active Chinese companies registered as members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce increased to around 5,400 at the end of H1 2024.

Partner Zhou Hui stated that given the establishment of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum for 20 years, the China-Arab relationship has stepped into a new era of a more comprehensive and deeper partnership. JunHe LLP, as an internationally recognized and leading law firm in China, is committed in providing legal services to Chinese enterprises on expanding globally through our unique combination of legal expertise and experience. The Middle East region—a vital and strategic hub connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe—plays a pivotal role in the Belt and Road Initiative and has attracted increasing interest from Chinese enterprises. We would like to express our gratitude to His Excellency Hadi Badri for his warm introduction to Dubai's investment environment.

We are also very thankful for the efforts made by DET for cultivating a strong and enduring partnership between the UAE and China. JunHe looks forward to closely collaborating with DET in the long term, serving as a bridge in assisting Chinese enterprises in their expansion into Dubai and the wider region. Our aim is to not only help Chinese companies establish a presence in Dubai in an efficient and compliant manner but also provide comprehensive value-added services to strengthen their long-term development in the wider Middle East and Africa region.
