Mr Ye (Tim) TIAN is a partner in Infrastructure and Project Finance Group of JunHe LLP. Prior to joining JunHe, Mr TIAN worked for a leading UK firm in the international construction filed for many years.
With his multi-faceted background in engineering and law, Chinese law and English law, Mr TIAN has been deeply involved in many large multinational corporations' offshore infrastructure "investment, financing, construction and operation" projects, and has taken the lead in the offshore infrastructure and energy and mining projects of China's state-owned enterprises under the "One Belt, One Road" initiative. He has been advising leading international developers and contractors on a wide range of complex and high-value projects (with investment amounts ranging from hundreds of millions of RMB to billions of RMB) in Mainland China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
Mr TIAN also advises clients on court proceedings in China as well as local and international arbitrations before major arbitration institutions including the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the Beijing International Arbitration Centre (BAC) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), amongst others. His experience covers all types of construction disputes, including disputes relating to payment, valuation and surveying, delay and disruption, design and other professional liabilities, issues arising from defective workmanship, termination of contracts, and enforcement of on-demand bonds.
Mr TIAN’s expertise is widely recognised by clients and the industry, and he is a guest lecturer at Tsinghua University, the University of International Business and Economics, and Tianjin University. He has co-authored and published "Risk Management and Control of Chinese Enterprises' Overseas Investments and Contracted-Out Projects and Case Analysis" with a number of experts in the industry, which has been well received by the industry.
Mr Tian has been selected as one of the recommended lawyers in the field of "Projects and Energy" by Legal 500 and listed in the list of the "Rising Star" in the field of "Infrastructure" by Asialaw Profiles for the period of 2023-2024. He has been listed in the list of the "Rising Star" in the field of "Project Development: Infrastructure, Project Finance" in International Financial Law Review (IFLR 1000) for the period of 2024-2025.
