QIAO, Zheyuan (Jacqueline) Partner

Professional Experience

Jacqueline is a partner in JunHe’s Hong Kong office. She specializes in derivatives, blockchain and fintech, and financial regulation, and has extensive experience advising international banks, funds, Chinese financial institutions and fintech companies in the areas of OTC derivatives, exchange traded products, structured products, asset management, cross-border finance and HKMA/SFC regulatory advice. Before joining JunHe, Jacqueline worked as a lawyer at Clifford Chance, Ashurst and Linklaters, as well as with a major investment bank where she was a structurer in the Greater China cross-asset structuring team. Jacqueline has personally been seconded as in-house legal counsel at Bank of China (Hong Kong), Credit Suisse, JP Morgan and HSBC.


In recent years, Jacqueline has focused extensively on overseas fintech, Web3, crypto payments, and crypto asset derivatives, accumulating substantial experience in these fields. She has provided legal services to leading players in the industry, including compliant overseas crypto asset exchanges, financial service providers, Web3 funds, asset management platforms, metaverse developers, mining machine manufacturers, NFT platforms, RWA token issuers, stablecoin issuers, DeFi platforms, GameFi companies, blockchain companies, and payment companies. Her services encompass providing compliance advice, licence application, product design, overseas corporate structuring, and drafting financial contracts.


Jacqueline was recognized as one of the ALB Hong Kong Rising Stars 2023 by Asia Legal Business. She was also shortlisted for Young Lawyer of the Year in 2022 by Asia Legal Business, Fintech and Digital Assets Lawyer of the Year in 2023 and 2024 by the Asia Legal Awards, IFLR1000 Woman Leaders (Financial Regulatory Sector) in 2023, and Fintech Lawyer of the Year by Asia Legal Business in 2024. 


Jacqueline has acted as external counsel to the Blockchain Lab of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and has been invited to speak on crypto laws and regulations as guest lecturer in the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
