Alan is specialised in handling complex cross-border M&A transactions. As the lead counsel he has advised many domestic clients in their outbound investments and also assisted foreign clients with their strategic investments into China. As a trusted adviser he also provides daily operational related legal advice on compliance and dispute resolution matters for his corporate clients.
From 2007 to 2017 Alan worked in the Hong Kong and Beijing offices of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, during which time he was also seconded to Freshfields London office. From 2017 to 2020 he worked at Linklaters first as a senior associate, then as a counsel and representative of Linklaters Beijing.
Alan is capable of providing business-oriented advice to his clients and help them navigate complex commercial negotiations. He is mindful of safeguarding the key commercial interests of his clients while facilitating the deal happening in the meantime.
Alan is the “Client’s Top Choice Lawyer in China” awarded by Asian Legal Business in 2023 and is recommended by Legal 500 as an outstanding lawyer. He was also nominated as the “rising star” of corporate and M&A by IFLR1000 in 2021. He is an external tutor of Renmin University. He has in-depth academic background in PRC laws and published a few articles relating to company and business laws on national journals.
