Mr. Rongnan Huang joined JunHe in June 2010 and is the deputy director of the firm’s Shanghai office. From 1997 to 2010, he was a partner at the Shanghai-based law firm Fu & Partners before becoming a director of the firm. Mr. Huang is experienced in the fields of dispute resolution, entertainment and media, Internet and new technology, and unfair competition.
Mr. Huang is highly experienced in litigation and arbitration and has experience in handling disputes in the cultural and media areas as well as commercial disputes involving foreign elements, and disputes over company shares, equity interests and unfair competition. Mr. Huang has represented clients in significant litigation cases and has secured positive results for his clients. These include a case involving the termination of a celebrity’s performance brokerage contract, a case of infringement involving a high-profile economist’s biography, and a defamation case involving the highest ever claimed amount in mainland China. Other notable cases include the first ever defamation lawsuit arising from the use of TV props in a television series, an environmental case involving a world-famous fast food brand, and cases involving valuation adjustment mechanisms and the investment disputes of listed companies. Mr. Huang is an expert in litigation and arbitration strategies and is recognized for his eloquence during proceedings.
Mr. Huang has advised several large online platforms, film, TV series, cartoon and online games companies as their long-term legal counsel and provided legal advice regarding their intellectual property compliance programs. He has drafted investment, production and distribution agreements, and merchandise licensing rights and agency agreements for many Sino-foreign jointly invested films, entertainment programs, cartoons and TV series. Mr. Huang is an experienced negotiator and has been involved in many high-profile commercial events and projects. He has advised leading international brands and advertising companies, reviewing their agreements with celebrities, providing advice on advertising compliance, and dealing with PR crises.
Mr. Huang closely monitors developments involving the Internet and new technology and provides clients with structuring and legal compliance services in the emerging fields of the Metaverse and NFTs.
Mr. Huang is an arbitrator at the Shanghai International Arbitration Center and the Shanghai Arbitration Commission and has been the presiding arbitrator in many cases.
