On 18 March 2022, China Business Law Journal, a leading international legal media journal, released its list of 80 Rising Stars of 2022. JunHe partners DI, Qing, LU, Juyi, WU, Yu (Sophia) and YANG, Li, were named on the list.
These 80 Rising Stars were selected by China Business Law Journal through surveys conducted of Chinese and foreign corporate legal advisors, executives and elite lawyers from leading domestic and foreign law firms.
Mr. DI, Qing specializes in dispute resolution, competition law and compliance. He has a wealth of experience in representing clients in complex commercial disputes before arbitration institutions and courts in China (including the Supreme People’s Court). Mr. Di has also accumulated extensive experience in dispute resolution involving foreign elements. He has represented clients in applying for the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and foreign court judgments. With cross-border assistance from local counsels, he also represented Chinese clients in investigating assets and making claims in non-PRC jurisdictions. Mr. Di has also advised a host of multinational companies in their daily operations in China, including providing legal advice regarding advertising, food safety, anti-unfair competition and legal compliance. From 2018 to 2019, Mr. Di worked as a visiting attorney in the litigation department of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP (New York office). He was named as a Recommended Lawyer in dispute resolution by the Legal 500, and a leading PRC business lawyer (arbitration) in 2020 by Who's Who Legal.
With over ten years of practice, Mr. LU, Juyi has extensive experience in handling various M&A and banking finance deals, including M&A finance, go-private finance, structured finance, property development finance, property acquisition finance, project finance, pre-IPO finance, syndication loans, general corporate loans and trade finance. He has provided legal services to many renowned and active foreign and domestic banks and other financial institutions on banking finance deals. Mr. Lu has also advised several financial institutions on institution incorporation, M&A projects, bonds issuances, credit card businesses, financial leasing projects, wealth management products and compliance investigations. In 2021, Mr. Lu was named on several internationally renowned legal media lists, including being added to the Top 15 Rising Lawyers in China by Asia Legal Business, a Recommended Lawyer in Banking and Finance by The Legal 500, and a Highly Regarded lawyer in banking and finance by IFLR1000.
Ms. WU, Yu (Sophia)’s practice focuses on the patent sector particularly in the fields of bioscience and health. She has represented many well-known Chinese and foreign biotechnology companies, universities and research institutions in various patent activities, including patent filing strategy design, patent drafting, patentability analysis, patent license or patent procurement, international patent portfolio management, patent review, re-examination, invalidation and administrative litigation in China. Ms. Wu has served a host of renowned venture capital and private equity funds by conducting patent due diligence investigations and patent Freedom to Operate (FTO) analyses on target companies. She has been recommended post-investment to the investees to further build and strengthen their patent portfolio. Ms. Wu has worked in overseas law firms, gaining valuable experience in both US and European patent practice. She was named a Next Generation Lawyer in IP by The Legal 500 in 2017 and a Recommended Lawyer in Life Sciences and Healthcare in 2022.
Since 2007, Mr. YANG, Li has specialized in the areas of bankruptcy and restructuring related practices and has vast experience in areas such as bankruptcy and reorganization, out-of-court debt restructuring, distressed M&A, disposal of non-performing assets and cross-border bankruptcy. He has acted as an administrator, counsel for creditors and creditors’ committees, debtor’s counsel, reorganization investor’s counsel and other roles in large bankruptcy and restructuring projects. He has experience with debtors in various sectors including steel, PV, textile, chemistry, medicine and non-ferrous metal metallurgy industries. Mr. Yang has led many cases of influence that have been named as sample cases in the Supreme People's Court and the provisional high courts. He also has rich experiences in the disposal of financial institution-related risks and has participated in administrative liquidation and bankruptcy cases involving securities companies, trust companies and other financial institutions. Mr. Yang has practical experience and an in-depth understanding of the disposal of financial institution-related risks. While being active in the front line of lawyers' practice, he has also participated in research on various topics as engaged by the legislature, NDRC, the stock exchange and other institutions. In 2021, Mr. Yang was named as Highly Regarded in insolvency and restructuring in China by the IFLR 1000, and a Lawyer of the Year in insolvency and restructuring in the Beijing Region. In 2022, he was named a Recommended Lawyer by The Legal 500.
