Mr. Di is based in our Shanghai office and focuses on dispute resolution including civil and commercial litigation and arbitration, competition law and compliance.
He has a wealth of experience in representing clients in complex cases at arbitration institutions such as CIETAC and SHIAC (including arbitration proceedings conducted in English). He has also represented clients before various PRC courts at all levels, including disputes concerning construction projects, corporate control, intellectual property, international trade, bat-on agreements and security fraud. Mr. Di is particularly skilled at solving disputes within limited timeframes so as to safeguard his clients’ commercial interests. He has an in-depth understanding of business transactions and leverages various legal measures from the civil, criminal and administrative perspective.
Mr. Di has also accumulated extensive experience in dispute resolution involving foreign elements. He represented clients in applying for recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and foreign court judgments, including awards and judgments rendered in Spain, France, the US and Singapore. He is experienced in providing expert legal opinion on PRC legal issues for clients in overseas court proceedings such as cases before the High Court of New Zealand and the High Court of Hong Kong. With the cross-border assistance from local counsels, he also represented Chinese clients in investigating assets and making claims in non-PRC jurisdictions.
In addition, Mr. Di advises a host of multinational companies in their daily operations in China, including providing legal advice regarding advertising, food safety, anti-unfair competition and legal compliance, and assisting clients to cope with relevant administrative investigations.
From 2018 to 2019, Mr. Di worked as a visiting attorney in the litigation department of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP (New York office), during which time he was involved in several US civil litigation and administrative investigation cases concerning various Chinese companies.
Mr. Di was ranked as one of the Recommended Lawyers and a New Generation Lawyer in the Dispute Resolution sector in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific, and was honored by Who's Who Legal as a leading PRC business lawyer (arbitration) for the year 2020.
